The two men charged with stealing a car and later setting it on fire have waived their preliminary hearings and their cases will be heard in Indiana County’s Court of Common Pleas.
28-year-old Austin Milanos and 47-year-old Matthew Smith each face charges of reckless burning or exploding, receiving stolen property and disorderly conduct for the incident on September 15th of last year. State Police say the two men allegedly stole a car from Indiana and drove it to Rayne Township where they pulled off along Martin Road near a railroad crossing south of Route 110. The two allegedly doused the vehicle in gasoline and set it on fire by throwing lit paper towels on it. The vehicle exploded and Smith was injured. He was arrested after he was treated at Indiana Regional Medical Center.
The two are due for a formal arraignment hearing in front of County Judge Gina Force on March 26th.
