After a week off, the Pitt Panthers returned to ACC action last night, but they didn’t exactly come out on fire against Syracuse. Pitt’s season-long shooting slump continued as they lost to the Orange for the second time in three weeks, 69-58. Jaland Lowe led the Panthers with 20 points. Pitt shot only 35.4 percent from the field and leading scorers Blake Hinson and Bub Carrington were a combined 4-of-27, with Hinson getting all four of those buckets and finishing with 12 points. Carrington was 0-for-10 and was scoreless on the night. Pitt was 5-of-26 from behind the three-point line.
Coach Jeff Capel says they will keep working.
Pitt falls to 10-7 on the season, 1-5 in the ACC. Next up is another rematch, this time against Duke on Saturday night. Duke beat Pitt last week, 75-53.
