Along with the windstorms, Indiana County is expecting another 1-3 inches of snow coming through the area, and PennDOT is advising people to be careful when driving during the storm.
PennDOT District 10, which includes Indiana, Jefferson, Armstrong, Butler and Clarion Counties, is keeping a close eye on weather patterns for the upcoming snowstorm today into tomorrow, and crews may be out pre-treating roads once again today in an effort to get ahead of the storm as far as clearing roads goes. But if some rain is expected that pre-treatment with salt brine may not happen as the rain would wash that pre-treatment away. But even with salt on the roads, there is still the possibility of some slick roads, especially with black ice.
People are advised to drive at speeds that are best for the road conditions at that particular time. This may mean slowing down, so allow yourself some extra time to get to where you need to go. PennDOT also advises against anyone using cruise control when roads are this icy. People are also reminded to clear snow and ice off their car before heading out.
