After a game of lost opportunities against Buffalo on Saturday, the Penguins play the Flyers tonight in Philadelphia. The Pens had two disallowed goals against the Sabers and lost, 3-1.
The Flyers are third in the Metro Division with 46 points and the Penguins are seventh, with 42. The Penguins are 6-3 in their last nine games, thanks to a better performance defensively, but coach Mike Sullivan says there is still plenty of room for improvement.
Sullivan says veterans like Lars Eller have helped younger players like Drew O’Connor understand the NHL game.
One of the puzzles Sullivan is working on is the play of Norris Trophy-winning defenseman Erik Karlsson, who has committed numerous turnovers and been caught out of position with ill-timed pinches from the blue line.
Sullivan says Karlsson is improving.
Pens/Flyers face off at 7 o’clock tonight on 92.5 FM U92. The pregame airs at 6.
