The Indiana County NAACP has announced that Pennsylvania’s Lieutenant Governor will be the guest speaker at this Saturday’s annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Program and Fellowship Luncheon.
The program will be held on Saturday from 11 AM to 2 PM at Graystone Presbyterian church. Lt. Governor Austin Davis will be the special guest speaker. He is the first black Lt. Governor in the state’s history and is the youngest Lt. Governor in the United States. Before that, he was a state representative for the Mon Valley area for five years. While he grew up in McKeesport, he started a youth advisory committee with the town’s mayor and a youth gun violence prevention program at his high school.
Also offering comments during the event will be state representative Jim Struzzi other community members, music performances, and other features that focus on this year’s theme, which is “Strength, Resilience and Courage.”
