HOCKEY
Phil Bell had the hat trick and Landin Wilson, Ash Lockard, and Nate Wood each had two goals as Indiana flew by Kiski Area 11-1 at the S&T Bank Arena. Indiana scored the first five goals, four of them in the first period, and the defense allowed only six shots on goal in a quiet night for goaltender Jayden Learn. The other Indiana goal-scorers were Jackson Albert and Brady Oakes. Bell, Lockard, Wood, and Wilson all had four-point nights.
Class-A Gold Division leader Indiana is 11-1 with six games left in the regular season and will not skate again until January 22nd at Butler.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
The Indiana girls clobbered Gateway last night on WDAD. Jake Slebodnick was there.
A big highlight in Armstrong’s game against Mars last night. Emma Paul hit ten three-pointers and scored 45 points in a 78-70 win for the Riverhawks.
BOYS BASKETBALL
In the Heritage Conference, first-place Conemaugh Township tripped up United, 64-48. The Indians were led by Ethan Matera with 19 points and Jon Updyke with 18. Carter Payne led the Lions with 18 points.
Homer-Center trounced Marion Center, 64-34. Max Voyda led the Wildcats with 15 points and Owen Saiani had 14. Nash Budner had 10. Evan Risinger had 12 and Noah McCoy 11 for the Stingers.
River Valley topped Penns Manor 53-49. Luke Woodring had 17 and Dom Speal 16 for the Panthers.
West Shamokin routed Purchase Line, 60-24.
Portage rushed to a 20-4 first quarter lead, then withstood a furious rally by Northern Cambria to beat the Colts 64-60. Bode Layo led the Mustangs with 14 while Ty Dumm scored 31 for the Colts.
Conemaugh Valley rolled by Cambria Heights, 71-58. Jeremy Dietz scored 22 for the Blue Jays. Isaac Weiland has 24 for the Highlanders.
RIFLE
Indiana Rifle lost to Armstrong 796-57x to 773-30x. Top shooter for Indiana was Ethan Coleman with a 99-5x.
