Ahead of the Penguins game in Boston tonight, the team yesterday put defenseman John Ludvig on long-term injured reserve with an undisclosed upper body injury. Defenseman Ryan Shea was recalled from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
The Bruins lead the Presidents’ Cup standings again this year with 52 points, one more than the Rangers, Avalanche, and the surprising Canucks. The Penguins have 40 points.
Coach Mike Sullivan says the Penguins will be seeking to control the puck in the offensive zone tonight.
Sullivan says the Pens have to pay attention to positional hockey.
Last night, president of hockey operations Kyle Dubas said that forward Jesse Puljujarvi will sign a professional tryout contract and join Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. He’s been out all year after having surgery on both hips in the offseason and being let go by Carolina. Puljujarvi was the fourth overall selection in the 2016 NHL Draft, by the Edmonton Oilers.
