The Steelers’ move to Mason Rudolph at quarterback has been smooth on the field, but not so much off of it, with rumors swirling around Kenny Pickett that he refused to dress as the backup or even QB-3 on Sunday in Seattle. Pickett denied that yesterday, while Rudolph preferred to focus on this Saturday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens.
Rudolph says whether Baltimore plays its starters or not, they’re going to be hard to beat.
Pickett refuted media allegations that he refused to suit up on Sunday, and, curiously, said that had he been medically cleared, he would have started the game against the Seahawks over Rudolph. At any rate, Pickett said he loves playing high-stakes football.
Safety Minkah Fitzpatrick and linebacker Elandon Roberts both sat out yesterday as the Steelers practiced for the first time this week. Fitzpatrick has missed the last four games with a knee injury. Roberts sat out Sunday’s game with a pectoral muscle injury.
Cam Heyward, Isaac Seumalo, Najee Harris, and Trenton Thompson were all limited participants. Safety Keeanu Neal remains on injured reserve.
For the fourth time in the last five years, his teammates have voted TJ Watt the Steelers’ most valuable player. That ties Watt with Antonio Brown for the most team MVP honors. He leads the NFL in sacks with 17.
Watt says he is constantly looking for an edge to help his team.
The Ravens did not practice yesterday. They released an injury report that had eleven players on it, four of them who would have been out had they practiced and the other seven listed as limited. Their first true workout will be today.
