The 12th annual Polar Plunge in Blairsville was a success on Monday.
While for many years the fundraising event would benefit an individual who needs assistance, this year’s plunge benefited the Swift Water Rescue Team from the Blairsville Fire Department. Department representative Ab Dettorre said that 50 people took the plunge into the Conemaugh River this year, and was happy with the success of the event under the guidance of Connie Constantino.
Along with those who took to the water yesterday, many more stood along the shore to offer their support for those involved. A financial total for the fundraiser has not yet been announced.
