On Monday night, Indiana Borough Council and Mayor Bill Simmons elected a new council president and vice president.
After a tie vote of 4-4 between Luke Debuyser and Peter Broad, borough Mayor William Simmons broke the tie by naming Debuyser as the new council president. Simmons said that he felt that with the change in the council’s configuration, the time was perfect for new leadership.
Simmons also had to break a 4-4 tie for vice president, naming Kaycee Newell as the new vice president over Peter Broad.
In other business, it was announced that there will be a delay in the renovation project for the borough building. Borough Manager Nicole Sipos said that when bids were opened for the project, the general contractor bid came in $900,000 over budget. She talked about what the next steps are.
