The Homer City Borough Council heard concerns about the Route 119/56 intersection during their meeting Tuesday night.
Joe Izzei, Sr., brought forth concerns from residents saying that coal trucks were not abiding by the “No Turn on Red” signs at the intersection, and he asked the board for potential ways to resolve the issue. One idea was to put the signs on nearby telephone poles, but the borough would need approval from PennDOT to accomplish that.
Police Chief Anthony Jellison said there will be an increased police presence in that area for the time being.
In other business, borough manager Rob Nymick announced holiday tree pickup will begin as soon as Wednesday. Trees must be on the curbside and cannot contain lights, stands or decorations.
Prior to the regular meeting, borough council held their annual reorganization meeting. Izzei was elected board president, while Matt Black was elected vice president.
Three new members were also sworn in. Those are Brad Black, Denise Liggett, and Robert Walbeck.
