Indiana Borough is talking about the importance of repairing sidewalks, along with a discovery that was made earlier this year while repairs were being made.
In a post to the borough’s website, a contractor discovered an underground cavern in the borough while repairing a section of sidewalk near the intersection of Oak and Fourth Streets in Indiana Borough. This cavern has remained hidden since 1989, when it was discovered by crews working in the area. It was believed at the time to be a place where beer was stored.
Borough officials say that if a section of sidewalk is in need of repair, citizens in Indiana Borough should contact the code department to discuss the ongoing sidewalk repair program.
