More details are available about a porch collapse that happened on Christmas Eve.
The call was reported by Indiana County 911 at 2:41 PM at 138 Schultz Road in Buffington Township. Initial reports said that the floor of the porch had collapsed and that 20 people were on the porch at the time.
Vintondale and Brush Valley fire departments were called to the scene along with Citizens’ Ambulance and Black Lick Valley EMS. Ed Altemus with the Brush Valley Fire Department said that the porch had collapsed while the family was having Christmas Dinner. He added that while it could have been much worse, only three people had minor injuries.
That was one of two calls reported on Christmas Eve. The other call was an automatic fire alarm activation on West Chestnut Street in Blairsville Borough. Blairsville and Black Lick fire departments assisted on the scene.
