Pennsylvania’s flu rate continues to rise, causing new concerns about holiday get-togethers, where respiratory illnesses could easily spread. The state Health Department’s weekly report says the number of lab-confirmed cases is “increasing rapidly”, jumping from 13,516 to 21,562 in just a week. The number of deaths rose by four, to 17.
In Indiana County, lab-confirmed flu cases increased from 90 to 145. That’s 55 new cases, after being up 22 the week before. RSV cases were also up, from 62 to 73.
If you are feeling even slightly under the weather, you might consider staying away from holiday gatherings.
