The Penguins will take the ice tonight against one of their more troublesome opponents. The Carolina Hurricanes have beaten them five straight times, including a 4-2 ‘Canes win last month in their only meeting so far this season.
The Penguins have won three of their last four games while the Hurricanes have lost two straight. Coach Mike Sullivan says a part of the Penguins problem is they’ve gotten frustrated against the ‘Canes unique man-to-man defense, so he’s preaching patience.
Sullivan says Carolina plays in a way no other team in the NHL does.
The coach likes his goaltending situation. He says he’s comfortable with either Tristan Jarry or Alex Nedeljkovic between the pipes.
The Pens yesterday recalled winger Vinnie Hinostroza from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, a day after sending down in a salary cap procedural move.
Tonight’s game faces off shortly after 7 o’clock. The pregame airs on 92.5 FM U92 at 6.
