State Department of Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding is reminding residents to purchase their 2024 dog licenses by the start of next year.
Dog licenses in Pennsylvania went on sale earlier this month, but Redding urges those planning on licensing their four-footed companions to do so before January 1. He adds that even if a dog is chipped, licenses on their collar is “clearly visible and helps ensure they will be brought home rather than ending up in a shelter.”
Costs for the licenses are $8.70, or $6.70 if the dog has been spayed or neutered. Discounts are available for seniors or disabled people. Licenses can be purchased at the Indiana County Treasurer’s Office or at the agencies listed below, but residents are reminded that there is a $0.50 fee when buying through an agent:
- Tails on the Town in Blairsville
- RC Indoor Archery Range in Clymer
- Daniel’s Depot in Strongstown
- Marion Center Farm & Feed in Marion Center
- Dughill Ammo & Arms in Rossiter
Current licenses expire December 31. For more information, contact the Treasurer’s Office by calling 724-465-3845 or by visiting the Indiana County Courthouse.
