Indiana County’s Court of Common Pleas will be busy today with several preliminary hearings on the schedule.
One will be for 50-year-old Brian Swanlek of Blairsville, who was charged in connection with an incident of retail theft on June 7th. Blairsville Borough Police were summoned to the Sheetz along East Market Street at an unspecified time for reports of someone stealing beer, and after reviewing surveillance footage, determined Swanlek took the beer without paying for it. They found him at the intersection of East Market and North Brady Streets a short time later, and a background check found that he had several bench warrants out of Armstrong County.
Also due for a preliminary hearing today is 26-year-old James Ressler of Indiana, who was charged with simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct for an incident July 23rd. Indiana Borough Police were summoned to a bar along the 500 block of Philadelphia Street around 2:14 AM after a person reported that Ressler allegedly attacked them as they were leaving the bar.
