Negotiations will continue between the state system of higher education and the union representing its teachers.
A two-day negotiation session between PASSHE and APSCUF wrapped up yesterday. Topics discussed by the negotiation teams on Monday and Tuesday included wages, benefits, licensed counselors, distance education, athletic trainers, athletic directors, parental leave, and continuing education.
As an agreement was not reached, further negotiations will be held, with the next session set for December 20th. Negotiators have not set a date by which they expect to complete contract talks. Faculty will continue to work under the terms of the contract that expired on June 30th of this year.
Meanwhile, negotiations on the coaches’ contract will resume after the new year. After a two-day session was held between PASSHE and APSCUF, negotiators with APSCUF said that they are working on issues that would prevent the firing of coaches on a whim and provide coaches the same job security as other public employees.
