During last night’s borough council meeting, Clymer Police Chief Charles Waller detailed an incident involving a vigilante group.
On Tuesday, the group Altoona Predhunters set up a sting operation for someone that they were tracking online. They had interacted with a 28-year-old male that believed he was talking with a teenager and set up a meet up for sexual relations. The group held the suspect until police arrived, but Chief Waller said that after hearing about a similar situation in Clearfield County where the case was thrown out because rules were not followed, his first call was to District Attorney Robert Manzi.
In other business, borough council approved the final 2024 budget, which went unchanged from the preliminary version passed in November. The budget contained a half-mill tax increase to cover per capita and occupational taxes, which were eliminated in the first draft.
