The Penguins look to avenge Saturday’s shootout loss tonight as they wrap up the home-and-home series with the Philadelphia Flyers.
Jake Guentzel netted two goals in the loss but that was outshined by another pitiful performance by the Penguins’ Power Play unit, which was 0-for-5 in chances against the Flyers. The team has converted 10.9 percent of Power Play chances this season, putting them 29th in the NHL.
Coach Mike Sullivan shook up the special teams at Sunday’s practice, putting defenseman Kris Letang on the top Power Play unit along with Erik Karlsson, Evgeni Malkin, Sidney Crosby and Guentzel. Meanwhile, the second unit consisted of Marcus Pettersson, Bryan Rust, Reilly Smith, Lars Eller, and Jeff Carter.
Coach Mike Sullivan said more changes could be made down the road if things don’t improve.
Letang commented on the team’s performance, saying things will get better once they net their first Power Play goal.
Sullivan had no new updates concerning the injuries to forwards Noel Acciari and Matt Nieto. Both are being evaluated for unspecified injuries and will likely miss tonight’s game.
Faceoff tonight is shortly after 7 o’clock. You can hear the game starting at 6 on U92.5 FM.
