Poor foul shooting plagued Pitt yesterday in a 79-70 loss to ACC-rival Clemson at the Petersen Events Center.
Pitt shot 54.5 percent from the line while Clemson was 12-of-15. Additionally, Clemson beat the Panthers at the board, hauling in 40 rebounds on the day. Blake Hinson led all scorers with 27 points and went 6-for-10 from three-point range. Ishmael Leggett followed with 17.
Coach Jeff Capel knows his team needs to be better as they approach the meat of their schedule.
Capel adds foul shooting will be a focal point in practice this week.
Next up for the Panthers is the Backyard Brawl against West Virginia Wednesday night in Morgantown. The Mountaineers have claimed the last six meetings, including last year’s when they beat Pitt, 81-56.
