Friday turned out to be a busy day for first responders in Indiana County.
Two structure fires were reported in the county yesterday. The first was at 2:24 PM along Lockvale Road in Banks township. Glen Campbell, Rossiter and Commodore fire departments from Indiana County, Big Run Fire Department from Jefferson County, The Indiana County Rapid Intervention Team and Jefferson County EMS responded at the time. Details are not available as of yet.
The second fire was reported on South Ben Franklin Road at 8:43 PM with Indiana, Coral-Graceton, Homer City, Creekside and Aultman fire departments responding along with the Rapid Intervention Team and Citizens’ Ambulance also called out at the time. Indiana Fire Officials say that they received reports of sparks on the roof of the PetSmart building near Lowe’s, but it turned out to be a false alarm.
A vehicle accident was also reported yesterday on Route 22 West in Blairsville Borough. Blairsvile fire and police departments, Black Lick fire department and Citizens’ Ambulance were dispatched at 10:48 AM, and Coral-Graceton firefighters were called in to assist on-scene two minutes later. Blairsville fire officials say that a tractor trailer broad-sided a passenger vehicle at the intersection of 22 and Dixon Street near Dean’s Diner. The impact forced the car into a small building nearby. The driver of the car had only minor injuries and the car took on minor damage. The driver of the truck was not hurt.
