The Indiana County Commissioners are continuing to work on the proposed 2024 budget and are scheduling a special meeting to put it up for adoption.
During a meeting on November 15th, the Indiana County Commissioners effectively rejected the original proposed budget as it failed to gain a second during the meeting. The proposed budget included a 1.7 mill tax increase, and the commissioners all agreed that the county needed to get back on financial track. County Commissioner Mike Keith also said that it meant that the commissioners would have to go back to the drawing board to work on it and have it ready for approval later.
The special meeting is set for Friday at 10:30 AM at the county courthouse. Like all meetings, it is open to the public. If it is approved, it would be put out on display and be put up for final approval later in December. The commissioners have a regularly scheduled meeting on December 13th and a second special meeting on December 21st.
