New Steelers offensive coordinator Eddie Faulkner said yesterday that he and play caller Mike Sullivan are good communicators, both with the players they’re coaching and with each other. Faulkner and Sullivan will run the offense for the first time on Sunday in Cincinnati, where the 6-4 Steelers will take on the 5-5 Bengals.
Faulkner says for him, there’s been no time to focus on getting the job of offensive coordinator, because there’s a game to prepare for.
Faulkner says he and Sullivan will work well together.
His introduction to pro coaching came as a participant in the NFL’s professional development program for college and high school coaches. Faulkner says the Steelers have an impressive array of coaches in their locker room.
Center Mason Cole anticipates no problems with the transition in play callers from Matt Canada to Mike Sullivan.
Cole says the Steelers players and coaches need to be better than they’ve been so far.
Safety Minkah Fitzpatrick missed practice yesterday, making him likely to miss a fourth straight game with a hamstring problem. Wide receiver George Pickens returned to practice in a limited capacity with a shin injury. Defensive linemen Cam Heyward and Montravious Adams, cornerback James Pierre, and linebacker Nick Herbig were also limited, with a variety of injuries.
