The windy conditions were expected to cause some power lines to go down across Indiana County yesterday, and fire crews were kept busy with that type of call throughout the day.
Eight calls for power lines being down were reported by Indiana County 911 on Tuesday. The first call came in at 8:51 in the morning, with lines down on Camp Faith Road in Cherryhill Township. The other calls were in Brush Valley Township, two in Pine Township, one in Burrell Township, then Center and White Townships, with the last lines-down call reported at 5:38 PM.
There was also a reported transformer fire at 1:07 PM in Cherryhill Township and a pumping detail was also called for a property along Palmerton Road in Burrell Township at 7:42 PM.
Authorities also responded to four vehicle accidents, with the first at 3:30 on Route 156 in Armstrong County that sent Iselin firefighters out. A vehicle accident was also reported on Warren Road in White Township at 5:06 PM, one on Chambersville Road in Rayne Township at 9:23 PM, and the last one at 11:04 PM on Litner Road in Burrell Township.
