The base salaries for Pennsylvania Lawmakers is set to go up at the start of next month.
A 3.5% pay raise that takes effect on December 1st will put the base salary of a state legislator at $106,422 a year or $8,869 a month. That’s up from the $102,844 base salary that went into effect last year. A lawmaker that is in an elected position of leadership will earn more than the base salary. That includes State Senator Joe Pittman, who is the current majority leader of the Senate. He along with the majority leader of the house and minority leaders of the house and senate will earn $154,192.
The raise is one mandated by state law that automatically raises the base wage for legislators, the governor, judges and other top state government officials based on the Consumer Price Index for the Pennsylvania-New Jersey-Delaware-Maryland area.
