The Penguins had struggled through losses to the Devils and Hurricanes on Thursday and Saturday, so it was a determined group that took the ice against the defending Stanley Cup champion Vegas Golden Knights last night, with backup goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic between the pipes. Paul Steigerwald has the story.
A day after placing defenseman P.O. Joseph on injured reserve with a lower-body injury, the Penguins lost defenseman Chad Ruhwedel with an undisclosed injury last night. Jeff Carter skated last night after forward Vinnie Hinostroza was injured Saturday against Carolina.
With their first shutout over Vegas, the only franchises the Penguins have never shut out are the Minnesota Wild and Seattle Kraken.
The Penguins are fifth in the Metro Division at 9-8, two points behind the Hurricanes. Next up for Pittsburgh is the traditional Thanksgiving Eve game at PPG Paints Arena. They’ll take on the New York Rangers, who top the division with a 12-2-1 record.
