The signs were mixed heading into last night’s game at PPG Paints Arena. The Penguins had lost to New Jersey five times in a row, but the Devils were playing without three of their top six forwards, including Penguins nemesis Jack Hughes. In the end, it was turnovers in the neutral zone that stopped the Pens and allowed New Jersey to leapfrog over them in the Metro Division standings.
Paul Steigerwald has the recap.
The Penguins have now lost six in a row to the Devils. They’ve lost four in a two to Carolina and the Hurricanes are up next on the schedule, tomorrow night in Raleigh, North Carolina.
The Penguins yesterday sent defenseman John Ludvig and goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on conditioning assignments. Both are working on returning from long-term injured reserve, and both were injured on the same night, October 24th against Dallas. Ludvig suffered a concussion and Nedeljkovic a knee injury.
