After Commonwealth Court ruled that Pennsylvania’s entrance into the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative was unconstitutional two weeks ago, members of the state House of Representatives met in Harrisburg this morning pleading Governor Josh Shapiro not to appeal the decision.
Eric Nelson, representative of Westmoreland County, led the discussion and he cited the unnecessary loss of jobs that plagued several billion-dollar power plants across the state. He even talked about one recent closure in Allegheny County.
State Representative Jim Struzzi was also asked to speak on behalf of the negative effects that have blanketed Indiana County, notably the closure of the Homer City Generating Station. He said if Shapiro were to quote, “let RGGI die,” there would still be hope for Homer City and other small communities.
No word on if Governor Shapiro will respond to the House’s call, nor if he will move forward with his appeal. You can watch the full video below:
