State police have released more information on a crash involving a coal truck and two other vehicles in Burrell Township last Friday.
The crash happened on Route 119 at the intersection with Main Street in Burrell Township. A dump truck full of coal was going North on 119 in the right lane and a car was in the turning lane. The light changed to allow the driver of the car, 39-year-old Valerie Stipcak, to make the left turn, but the dump truck still had a red light. When the driver of the dump truck, 71-year-old Harrold Chase of Ramey out of Clearfield County, failed to stop for a red light, the truck collided with Stipcak’s car. The dump truck then crossed the small concrete median and collided with a pickup truck driven by 42-year-old John Bertolino of Indiana. The dump truck overturned completely, spilling its load of coal.
One driver was taken to Indiana Regional Medical Center and the other drivers and a passenger in the truck were taken to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center. All four had suspected minor injuries.
