For the second week in a row, the Steelers are looking to plug a hole in their inside linebackers’ room, after Kwon Alexander suffered a season-ending torn Achilles tendon Sunday against Green Bay. One of their answers might be former Atlanta Falcons starter Mykal Walker, who they signed to their practice squad two weeks ago and now finds himself preparing to be added to the active roster in time for Sunday’s game against the Browns.
Walker says he’ll be ready when called.
Walker says playing for the Steelers, and for coach Mike Tomlin, has been a longtime dream.
Walker started 12 games for Atlanta last year but was cut after the season. He then was signed and released by the Raiders, then was with the Bears before the Steelers signed him to their practice squad. Second-year player Mark Robinson will take Alexander’s place alongside Elandon Roberts at inside linebacker on Sunday, and the Steelers also have Tariq Carpenter, another second-year player, on the roster after he was activated last week to replace Cole Holcomb.
