Sandra (Pflugfelder) Fritz, 84, of Indiana, passed away on Friday, November 10, 2023. She was born in Kane, Pennsylvania, on February 21, 1939, to the late Roger Edwin and Laura Irene (Brunner) Plugfelder.
She was a 1957 graduate of Punxsutawney High School, and graduated from IUP with a degree in education.
Sandy was very active in many clubs and organizations both in her church, St. Thomas More University Parish, as well as around Indiana. Her memberships included the IUP Women’s Club, the Indiana Junior Women’s Club, the St. Jerome Guild, Christian Counseling, the Prayer Chain Group, as well as hosting the Wednesday Swim Team. Perhaps she will best be remembered for sending birthday cards to all members of St. Thomas More University Parish, to those celebrating their 70th. birthdays. Sandy was an avid baseball fan, enjoying any level of the game.
Surviving Sandy is her husband of 64 years Donald P. Fritz, Jr., whom she married on August 15, 1959; daughter Amy (Regis) Wodnicki, of Pittsburgh; son Donald E. (Kathleen) Fritz, of North Venice, Florida; son Ted P. (Staci) Fritz of Murrysville; son Ryan S. (Janice) Fritz of Indiana; grandchildren Kelly Wodnicki, Jeffrey Wodnicki, Katherine (Anthony) Guarcello, Jessica (Ryan) Walker, Luke (Jessica) Fritz, Laura Fritz, Erik Fritz, Jacob Fritz, Parker Fritz, Brady Fritz, Madelyn Fritz, Olivia Lacko, Rachel Lacko, and Evan Garbowsky; great grandson, Hunter Fritz; brother, Dr. Roger (Linda) Pflugfelder of Princeton, NJ; several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
A Memorial Mass will be announced and held at a later date.
Private interment will be in Oakland Cemetery, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Sandy to St. Thomas More University Parish or to the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.
Services have been entrusted to the care of the Bowser Minich Funeral Home, Indiana.
