On Monday, the Indiana School Board approved the creation of a new credential to help teens.
On the recommendation of the Academic and Extracurricular Committee, the board approved the Teen Mental Health First Aid Industry Recognized Credential for students in the district. It is a program run in cooperation with ARIN Intermediate Unit to provide high school students with the ability to recognize mental health warning signs and teach them how to connect them with the appropriate aid. Superintendent Robert Heinrich said that the program will also provide some accreditation for the students as well.
In other business, the board congratulated Cinda Brode, Tamie Blank, Terry Kerr and Ron Airhart as last night was their last official meeting as members of the school board. At the next meeting on December 4th, Doug Steve, Sally McCombie, Chris Adams and Patrick Schneider will be sworn in as new members of the board.
