IUP led by as many as 13 points in the first half, but the Crimson Hawks had to hold off a mad dash by Notre Dame (Ohio) to come away with a 75-67 win in the Hilton Garden Inn Classic at the KCAC on Saturday night. it was IUP’s first win of the season after dropping their opener Friday night against Concord.
Ethan Porterfield picked IUP up in the second half after their lead had shrunk from 41-30 at the break to just a point on several occasions. Porterfield had 21 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Garvin Clarke scored 14 points and dished out six assists, Dallis Dillard scored all 13 of his points in the first half, and senior transfer Josh Petteno found his touch, scoring all 12 of his points in the second half on three three-pointers and a three-shot foul.
Andre Harris scored 20 to lead Notre Dame.
IUP is 1-1 and will play host to Walsh on Thursday night at 8 o’clock.
