Indiana Borough Police have released an update on an investigation into some incidents in the downtown Indiana business district.
Chief Justin Schawl issued a post on social media on Thursday that police had received reports on October 21st, and November 8th and 9th of a man acting suspiciously and talking inappropriately to women in the area. Since the initial post, Schawl said that more people have come forward with reports from others who have been made uncomfortable by a man who has been similarly described across the cases.
He said that the police are conducting a thorough and professional investigation based on the information, and he believes that police have made contact and talked with the man in question. While they are not seeking any additional suspects, police will continue to investigate any other reports of this type of activity. The investigation may or may not result in charges being filed, but Schawl said “that will not diminish the actions or communications … were aggressive, inappropriate for time and place, uncustomary for our business district, and warranted a professional police effort.”
The chief also encouraged everyone to continue to visit the downtown business district, and that if anything is out of the ordinary, the police are available 24/7 by dialing 911.
