At Tuesday’s meeting, Indiana Borough Council appointed a new representative for the East Ward.
By a 7-to-4 vote, council appointed Betsy Sarneso to fill the term of Joshua Krasta, who resigned from his position last month. Sarneso will serve out the rest of Krasta’s term, which ends in December 2025.
Sarneso returns to borough council after previously serving from 2018 to 2021, and she said she’s eager to help local residents, something she was doing when she found out about her appointment.
In other business, council approved an agreement with Brilliant HR Consulting Services to review procedures within the borough at an hourly rate of $80 per hour, as needed. Solicitor Pat Dougherty details the purpose of the agreement.
Lastly, council member Gerald Smith announced he will resign following more than 10 years with Indiana Borough. While no exact date was announced, he said his resignation will be effective towards the end of the month.
