A man who led police on a chase through North Mahoning Township back in August is due in district court today for a preliminary hearing.
Court documents say 56-year-old John Rittenhouse Jr. of Smicksburg is charged with felony fleeing or attempting to elude police officers, misdemeanor reckless endangerment and DUI-unsafe driving, and 21 summary driving counts for an incident on August 13th of this year. State police tried to pull over Rittenhouse around 10:50 PM at the intersection of Route 210 and Sawmill Road in North Mahoning Township, but he fled the scene and led police on a 10 and a half mile high-speed chase that ended at the intersection of McCormick Road and Route 210 in South Mahoning Township when he crashed the truck. No injuries were reported, but Troopers determined he was under the influence of alcohol at the time.
This marks the third attempt to hold the preliminary hearing as the others were delayed.
