Two people were hurt yesterday in a crash on Route 22 in Derry Township.
The crash happened at 1:50 in the afternoon in the Westbound lanes of 22 near the Rushwood Road intersection. A pickup truck was crossing Route 22 coming from Stone Jug Road onto Rushwood Road when it rear-ended the back of a tractor-trailer. The passenger in the pickup was thrown from the vehicle and the driver was able to crawl out under their own power. Both people were taken to area medical centers for treatment. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not hurt.
The crash prompted the closure of 22 between the Sheetz on Route 981 and the intersection of Rushwood Road where the accident happened. The road reopened around 4:00 PM. State police say the investigation is continuing.
