The suspect in an officer-involved shooting Sunday night on IUP’s campus is in Indiana County Jail, facing charges of aggravated and simple assault along with possessing instruments of a crime and false reports to law enforcement.
State Police say 19-year-old Cameron Raubaugh is currently in the Indiana County Jail as bail was denied in his case. Troopers say he called 911 to make a false report of a robbery in the parking lot of George P. Miller Stadium, and described the robber as dressed in black and in possession of a knife. When two IUP police officers arrived, they found Raubaugh on-scene brandishing a knife. He rushed one of the officers, knocking them down. During the encounter, an officer fired a shot that missed. Raubaugh was taken into custody after leading officers on a foot chase and a state trooper using a taser to subdue him.
Police say that Raubaugh intentionally assaulted the officer in an attempt to be shot by the officer.
A preliminary hearing is set for November 8th at 2:15 PM.
