Charges have been filed against the suspect in an officer-involved shooting that happened last night on IUP’s campus.
Court documents show 19-year-old Cameron Held Raubaugh of Pittsburgh is facing charges of aggravated and simple assault, possession of an instrument of crime and making false reports. The charges were filed at District Judge Guy Haberl’s office this morning.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, Raubaugh called 911 to report a robbery being done by a knife wielding suspect at the George P. Miller Stadium parking lot. When the two IUP Police officers arrived, they found the suspect, later identified as Raubaugh, and he approached them. After one of the officers fired a shot that missed everyone, he allegedly knocked one of the officers down and fled the area before a state police trooper tased and apprehended him.
According to court documents, Raubaugh’s bail was denied as he needs to undergo a mental evaluation. He is currently lodged in Indiana County Jail. A preliminary hearing is set for November 8th
