The Heritage Conference volleyball champion was crowned last night when Conemaugh Township topped Marion Center in four sets in the championship match at the KCAC.
Both the Indians and Stingers were second-place teams coming into the night. Conemaugh Township finished second in the East but swept West number one West Shamokin, 25-17 and 25-22 in the first semifinal. West number two Marion Center edged East number one Northern Cambria 25-22 and 25-20 in the second semi.
In the best-of-five championship match, Marion Center fell behind big early but rallied to take the first game, 25-22. Then Conemaugh Township’s big-serving Ava Byer, Kendra Huber, and Madison Roman led the Indians back into the match. They stormed to a 25-12 second-set win, then prevailed 25-22 in the third set before jumping to a big, insurmountable lead in the fourth game to win the championship, 25-17.
