Lorraine Olene Swineford 87, formerly of Indiana, Pennsylvania, entered heaven on October 15, 2023. Born in Dora, PA on December 11, 1935, she was the oldest daughter of the late Letha and Linus Dobson. Lorraine spent most of her life in Indiana, but after spending nine years as a resident of Lighthouse Point, Florida she returned to Coraopolis, Pennsylvania in March of 2023.
Lorraine and her late husband, Frank Swineford, attended Grace Methodist Church in Indiana and were both involved with the church. She worked in the medical field most of her working life as a nurse, office manager, and most recently in the office of the late Dr. Martin Markowitz and Dr. Frank Zbignewich, retiring after 27 years.
Lorraine loved to cook, and she especially loved to bake just about anything sweet. Her love of baking has rubbed off on her children and grandchildren. She was in her glory at big family dinners enjoying having family and friends nearby. Lorraine loved to read, and it would not be uncommon for her to read a few books each week. In addition, she enjoyed her crafts, many times creating cards which she loved to send to family and friends. She was also an accomplished seamstress. She enjoyed Bible studies with her friends sharing with others what God had done in her life. Her greatest joy was being with family. Lorraine was a cancer survivor.
She is survived by brother Daryl Dobson (Gloria) of Simpsonville, South Carolina, son-in-law Rev. Doug Snyder of Indiana, sons Vincent Stanavich (Rae Ann) of Port St. Lucie, Florida and Rev. Dr. Dennis Swineford (Deborah) of Edinboro, PA, and daughters Lisa Allen (Kenneth) Cranberry Township, PA, and Lori Kirkpatrick (Mark) of Coraopolis, PA. She had 12 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
In addition to her parents, Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband Frank Swineford, daughter Darlene Snyder (Doug), and sister Reneda McCurdy.
Friends will be received by the family on Friday, November 24, 2023, from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM in the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, 500 Ben Franklin Road South, Indiana, PA.
