A House Bill to support Emergency Medical Services, Hospitals and Nursing Homes is now on its way to the Governor’s desk for his signature.
House Bill 1351 will provide additional support for EMS agencies by driving $63.1 million of new revenue and new resources to the statewide EMS network starting January 1st and ending at the end of the 2023-24 fiscal year. It would also reauthorize a state tax imposed on hospital services that would allow a federal government match of a portion of the revenue, allowing some funds collected by the state government to be returned to hospitals. The third part of the bill would freeze reimbursement rates for nursing homes to help reduce volatility and level the playing field so they can continue their mission to help vulnerable patients.
Senate Majority Leader Joe Pittman called the passage of the bill at both the House and Senate a perfect demonstration of a “divided government coming together to advance commonsense legislation to help all Pennsylvanians.”
