Two bills that would allow independent voters to vote in the primary election are making their way to the floor of the state house.
The bills are coming out of committee along Democrat party-line votes. One such measure would allow independent voters to choose which political party they want to vote in during the primary election, while the other bill would allow third party voters to vote in one of the major party primaries if their party did not receive enough votes to be considered a major party. While voters would be allowed to vote for the party’s nomination for public office, they would not be able to vote for anyone running for a party office.
Pennsylvania is one of seven states that have closed primaries.
