A solar eclipse will be visible across the country today, and there is a chance that Indiana will see a bit of it today, but it is a small chance due to the rain and cloudy skies expected today.
Many across the nation will be looking to the skies for what’s called an annular eclipse, and while the skies will darken for that eclipse, IUP Geoscience Professor Ken Coles says that this will look different from a standard solar eclipse.
As Indiana county is outside of the main path of the eclipse, which is mainly through Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Texas, Utah and parts of California, we will get to see a partial eclipse, but staring at it can still be dangerous to your eyes.
People are reminded that the best way to view an eclipse directly is with a pair of eclipse glasses, or by using a pinhole projector.
