At Wednesday night’s meeting, the Penns Manor School Board approved setting up a special meeting at the start of next month concerning a proposed resolution for making some new properties tax exempt.
Superintendent Daren Johnston said that a resolution to encourage new homeowners to build in the school district by giving them property tax exemption for two years has run out. The board wants to reinstate it to bring new homeowners in to buy new property or build a new residential house. Johnston said that the program has been very successful.
On November 1st, the district will hold a special meeting to hear from the public on the potential renewal. It will be held at 7:00 PM and followed by the board committee meeting.
In other business, Johnston announced that the district will bring back its traditional Veterans’ Day program on November 9th after a few years of delivering meals to veterans. Those who want to take part can contact the district for more information. The luncheon will start at 11:45 and a program will follow at 1:00 at the High School auditorium.
