While a full report on Friday night’s homecoming activities is expected later today, no major incidents have been reported.
I-ACT media representative Michelle Fryling said that she had not heard of any major events that happened between last night and this morning, but a full report of law enforcement activities is expected to be released later today.
Today is the main day of IUP’s homecoming weekend, kicking off at 10 AM with the annual parade down Philadelphia Street. This year’s parade theme is “Circus”. We’ll have coverage of the Parade on Renda Digital TV at 10 AM.
Because of the parade, attendees are reminded that Church and Water streets will be the main detour routes for today. People are also encouraged to arrive early, utilize the borough’s parking garage on Water Street, and have some extra patience as the increased foot and vehicle traffic could make for some slow goings today. Immediately after the parade, student-volunteers from IUP’s fraternities and sororities will clean the parade route and Mack Park, where the floats were stored.
Following the parade will be the Crimson Huddle at the KCAC. Along with food, drinks and live music from “Somebody to Love”, there will also be a celebration of the IUP Class of 1973 for it’s 50th anniversary. That runs from 11-2. The annual Homecoming game, which will be the Coal Bowl between IUP and California University, will start at 2:00 at George P. Miller Stadium. Our coverage of the game starts at 1:30 on U-92.5 FM and u92radio.com. The weekend events conclude with a concert from IUP’s Symphony Band and Wind Ensemble at 3:00 PM at Fisher Auditorium.
