A top state game commission officer said that his agency is working to improve on-line sales of anterless deer hunting licenses for next year.
At a recent meeting of the PA Senate Game and Fisheries Committee, Game Commission executive director Bryan Burhans fielded questions about the purchasing of online hunting licenses, as many who tried to purchase a license this year experienced some problems with the website. Many of the problems were slowdowns of online license applications for first-day sales on June 26th due to the high number of people purchasing licenses in person and on the website that day. Burhans said that as of September 18th, sales were up 10.5%, and have sold over 600,000 general hunting licenses and over 1 million antlerless licenses.
Burhans told the committee that they are continuing to work to improve the website to head off any problems with the first day of sales next year, and a significant part of that will be to work with hunters to head off an opening day rush.
