On last night’s edition of Hawk Talk on Renda Digital TV and U92 radio, IUP coach Paul Tortorella talked about last Saturday’s PSAC West opening win over Mercyhurst and looked forward to this Saturday’s game at Slippery Rock.
Tortorella says Slippery Rock will be a stiff challenge for IUP’s defense.
The coach is pleased with the development of quarterback Karst Hunter, who he says is now “up to speed” with the pace of PSAC football.
IUP has two nominees among the 38 submitted by the PSAC for the NCAA Division II 50th Anniversary Gold Award, recognizing a male and female who have made a positive impact in Division II. Former football coach and athletic director Frank Cignetti and longtime associate athletic director and administrator Ruth Podbielski are nominated, as is former East Stroudsburg football coach Denny Douds, an Indiana native.
The PSAC’s athletic directors, senior women’s administrators, and sports information directors will vote on the conference’s two representatives for the national vote.
