If Phil Jurkovec cannot answer the bell for Saturday night’s Pitt game at Virginia Tech, coach Pat Narduzzi says Christian Veilleux will get the start. Jurkovec left the game against North Carolina on Saturday with an unspecified injury and Veilleux replaced him, but the Penn State transfer threw two interceptions and lost a fumble.
Narduzzi says he has “no idea” if Jurkovec will be ready to play, but if he can’t, the coach has great confidence in Veilleux and in third stringer Nate Yarnell.
Narduzzi also says offensive left tackle and team captain Matt Goncalves had an unspecified surgery yesterday and is out for the season.
